Coaching

You are here, on this website, on this page. As you read these lines, from a computer screen or holding your smartphone, you are probably not paying attention to the position of your back, the tension in your neck muscles, or how you are holding your legs. But just mentioning these body parts was enough to shift your attention to them. And maybe you also took the opportunity to adjust your posture a bit.

That’s what coaching is all about: taking a different perspective and looking at your difficulties objectively. Once you shift your focus, with the proper tools you can finally make those “adjustments” you need. And just as better posture allows you to walk, run, and live healthier and safer, a life more in line with your expectations unleashes that sense of freedom that makes it yours.

Yes, okay, but what can I change?

You can change many, many things, as indeed you have already done on many occasions! Because you know how to change, you know what decisions are best for you, you know how to deal with your challenges, and you prove it every day! What coaching does for you is allow you to do it with more precision and ease, reducing time and effort. Let’s look at some concrete examples.

AUTOMATISMS Have you ever felt your cell phone vibrate, grab it, stare at the screen, and go blank at the sight of the name of the person calling you? Have you ever experienced that feeling of a knot in your throat when you have to speak in public? Have you ever changed your mood at the mere sight of your boss? Automatisms are automatic reactions to specific stimuli, springs that click and give you the impression that you have no control over yourself. Managing them and turning them into allies is not only possible but fun.

EMOTIONS We are in an age when rationality, science, and artificial intelligence are being brought up all the time to make decisions. Now more than ever it is important to remember that we humans tend to rationalize rather than be rational. In short, we use “reason” to justify choices made from the gut. For this very reason, knowing when it is good to fully experience an emotion such as jealousy, anger, or sadness and when it is good to put it on hold for a moment is crucial.

INTERNAL DIALOGUE Internal dialogue is a crucial dimension of our mental life. It is not only the words of others that influence us, but also our own thoughts, which we sometimes go over and over obsessively. Sleepless nights, worries, states of anxiety sometimes result from the way we talk to ourselves. Imagine how your day can transform the moment your mind is clear, and thought gives way to action.

Automatisms, emotions and internal dialogue, presented here as separate, are intertwined in a wide variety of situations that, at least at first glance, you might label as:

  • lack of self-esteem;
  • difficulty relating to others;
  • insecurity in managing a personal or work dynamic;
  • desire to better manage a work group;
  • desire to improve sports results;
  • desire to overcome one’s emotional blocks.

My role is to help you bring to light what you really want and turn it into practice!

Whether live or online, my coaching process consists of the following main steps:

  1. FIRST MEETING: we start with a free consultation where we get to know each other, explore your goals, and see if I am the right professional for you.
  2. START: here we examine your current situation: what you like, what you don’t accept, what you think are the causes and consequences of the dynamics you experience every day.
  3. PROJECT: after specifying your goals and priorities, we enjoy designing your action plan with care and detail.
  4. ACTION: step by step, we execute the established plan and follow your progress together.
  5. RESULTS: we close the circle by evaluating the path taken and planning the next steps.

Thus, the first meeting consists of a free consultation that lasts 30 to 60 minutes. It will be after the latter that we will compose together your action plan and agree on consecutive meetings.

Three cues for you:

  1. Are some thoughts nagging at you and not letting you sleep? Grab a pen and paper and write down everything that’s on your mind, without censoring yourself! Write down exactly what your internal dialogue repeats incessantly. Finally, burn everything you have written.
  2. Regardless of the goal you set for yourself, here are some questions that are always helpful to answer: is this goal congruent with who I am, is it really what I desire? Who will I be when I achieve it? Why haven’t I achieved it yet? Is the responsibility for its fulfillment entirely up to me? If I imagined for a moment that I had already achieved it, what would happen, what would I do, how would I feel?
  3. Job changers don’t leave the company they work for, they leave the people they work with! If you are the leader of a workgroup, you will know that good communication is essential for a healthy and efficient work environment. But this should not be demanded, it should be created, every day, starting with you.
